We’ve got a busy March lined up with Gareth & Stephanie holding the fort. Teowai will be in Sydney packing up our studio there and organising a container to ship all our stuff back to NZ. With the way Covid has changed international travell weve realised that future Australian trips will no longer be the weekend hop overs that they used to be.
We are in the process of renovating our big shed into a studio. The dream is to have a marae style set up so whanau who travel to Patea for a weekend can have portraits made either indoors or outdoors depending on the weather. Ive got visions of tukutuku panels and whakairo made with our own hands. Its a long term thing at this stage(ive got to make some tukutuku panels and Gareth has to finish setting up his workspace so he can get carving.)

If you havent seen any of our videos there is a short one on our homes screen that lets you see some of the things we do at our Portrait days. We provide everything you need to create a kapa haka styled whanau portraits. we have a variety of taonga, kakahu and moko stamps. Our wahakura is perfect for those pepi who havent yet mastered the art of sitting up. You are welcome to bring your own kakahu and taonga as well. We love seeing all the beautiful pieces whanau bring in.
We also encourage whanau to bring in the koro & kuia. You dont have to pay to add them to your sitting and they arent included in your number. If you have a whanau of 5 and have booked a poto sitting then decide you want to bring your koro and kuia you dont have to book the larger sitting.
As part of our Kaumatua Project we offer a free individual portrait for any Koro or Kuia over the age of 65. They dont have to book they just turn up to our portrait day and we will photograph them.
Below is Whaea Lizzie who had her Kaumatua Portrait made at Kaitaia RSL.
